Eric Gower is an author, ghostwriter, editor, tea entrepreneur, cooking instructor, and
private chef known for his unique "breakaway" method of cooking: creating remarkably
original cuisine that is defined by simplicity, ease, and powerful flavors. This method of
cooking -- inspired by his extensive travels abroad and exploration of domestic and
international ethnic markets -- celebrates the combination of global ingredients with
fresh local produce in exciting and creative ways.
Eric writes a popular column for the San Francisco Chronicle called "The Breakaway Cook,"
maintains a lively blog of the same name, and is the author of four cookbooks: The Breakaway
Vegetarian Cook, The Breakaway Cook, The Breakaway Japanese Kitchen, and Eric's Kitchen.
He is also the founder and director of Breakaway Matcha, a specialty tea company
focused solely on hyperpremium matcha. He lives in Marin County, California, with his wife,
Delia van der Plas, and their daughter, Daphne. He can be reached at eric (at) breakawaycook.com
