Breakaway Profile in The Kitchn

May 30th, 2008 Posted in Cooking ideas

If anyone’s curious about what the microscopic breakaway kitchen looks like, there’s a cool little feature on breakaway cooking in The Kitchn, a wonderful little site “for those who want to cook more, but are shy in the kitchen. It’s a place to dive in deep, and embrace the joy of one of our basic needs: food.” The Kitchn is the food/kitchen section of Apartment Therapy. Many thanks to Dana Velden for doing such a fine job with both the prose and the photos.

Hi Eric - I LOVE that your kitchen is so normal and attainable. Very encouraging for some reason!

    Thanks for sharing! :)

Cool! The only thing that intrigues me more than way you updated your cozy standard issue San Francisco kitchen into a space that makes me want to belly up to the stove and cook, is the bookshelf. I’m a little book crazy and noticed we have a number of similar titles in our collections. Well, then there is also that sweet carbonator your friend Eddy hooked you up with. Have you tried Wine spritzers yet? You have some pretty sweet toys.

This was fun to see. I’m enjoying learning the Breakaway style from your book and it was nice to see you kitchen setup.

I’m planning on redoing my kitchen in a couple of years and have gotten some new equipment inspired by your style: spice mill, new enamel ironware, etc. Considering the dehydrator.

    Love your ideas!
